Within the past ten years, social media has exploded with new business and networking possibilities. Many of the new technologic advancements have created thousands of jobs in non-traditional formats. In 1990′s, weblogs or blogs stepped out on the internet scene. Bloggers were putting out their life stories, recipes, anything that they felt like writing on the internet for all to read. Now, a group of bloggers got the great idea that they could use blogs as a business venture. For many people especially stay at home moms, traditional work schedules did not fit into their lifestyle. So these non-traditional workers began using their blogs for profit.

Blogging for profit has taken the internet by storm in the last five years. Thousands of mommy-bloggers are getting paid to write about and review products ranging from diapers, to homeschool books, to toys, to food products. Not only do they get to try the product free, but many of these companies pay to sponsor these blogs. Many bloggers sell advertisement space on their blog as well.

So, how do you get into the wonderful world of blogging for profit? First, you need to learn a blogging platform—WordPress, TypePad, or Blogger. Next, you need to find a niche in the blogging world and fill it. You want your blog to be different from other blogs in the blogosphere. Then, you should build up a following for the blog so that companies will invest and sponsor your blog. Basically, you are making your blog into a brand that you can market to others on the internet so they will see your blog as a good investment.

Like any business, you will have to put a lot of work int building up your blog and becoming a brand. If you enjoy writing, then blogging for profit may be your perfect niche.
